Free and Clear

Updated: Aug 23, 2023

What does physically free and mentally clear mean to us?

Well obviously it's a combination of physical freedom and mental clarity. But its important consider what feels like and what it means in our every day lives.

Physically Free

Physical freedom can mean multiple things:

1. The ability to move with quickness and strength and without pain or restriction. This type of physical freedom is result of taking care of one's body; it requires physical exertion like lifting weights, running, working around the house and also nutritional aptitude. People who want to be physically free in this sense consume things that they know are good for their bodies. They drink a lot of water and eat unprocessed foods.

The positive results from this type of physical freedom are numerous. You are able to do anything you want anytime, you can keep up with your kids (playing sports, chasing them, throwing them around) and have memorable physical experiences with your friends (sports, outdoor activities, competitions). Physical freedom the embodiment of self-respect, it shows dignity for the human form and what our incredible bodies are capable of. Self-actualized people become physically free out of a deep desire to make and mold themselves into competent and prepared people. There is also a philosophical aspect to physical freedom, when you can keep up with your kids, set the pace for your family and have amazing experiences with your friends, you are living life to its fullest potential and taking advantage of your time on this planet.

2. A ability to live life on your terms.

People who are physically free in this sense are unencumbered by the opinions and actions of others. They aren't slaves to false information or people who try to control them, they aren't co-dependent and they don't need to control others to make themselves feel valuable. People who are physically free are sovereign, their decisions and actions are not dictated by others and their bodies, minds and spirits are their own. This type of physical freedom is realized through a connection to God and truth. This level of physical freedom requires skills, bravery and independence.

Physical freedom is that natural high you get after playing with your kids, competing in athletics or climbing a mountain. This same feeling is unlocked when we take healthy risks in our personal lives. This could involve leaving toxic relationships and environments, starting new careers and businesses or picking up our family and moving to a new location.

Myndbeatz are written and produced to help people achieve physical freedom through deep mental work, physical fitness, skill development and mental control.

Mentally Clear

High performers experience moments in their lives where their mind feels slow, methodical and efficient. This often referred to as "being in the zone," or "flow state." I remember many times in my athletic and professional career where I was mentally clear. During hot streaks in my baseball career everything felt under control, like I was on a stage playing my part. I felt confident, in control and strong, like I was just letting it happen. When I close my eyes and think back, some of the swings I took and the plays I made felt like slow motion. As a professional in the work place, I've had many times where I've been giving a presentation or discussing a high-level topic with executives and it felt like an outer body experience, as though my mind was moving at a pace I wasn't dictating, the ideas and words flowing freely and intelligently in a way that can only be described as a "zone." Now, as a father of 5 who spends a lot of time parenting, coaching, running and lifting, I find flow state during conversations with my kids, when I'm pushing myself at the gym or helping a young athlete learn new skills and perspectives on the field. Becoming mentally clear is a skill.

This type of mental clarity can be achieved through practice, preparation and hardship. Myndbeatz is a great example of a way to practice mental clarity. When our users close their eyes and breathe and focus solely on the word they're hearing, they are training their mind to feel the contrast between chaos and clarity, so in the future, when things are spinning upstairs, they will go back to the breathing and the words they've memorized in the songs. When we practice slowing down, thinking big picture and finding clarity, and when we give ourselves words to use in times of mental crisis, it becomes easier to feel when we're out of mental alignment and work back towards flow.

We can also achieve mental clarity through preparation. Using my example of having what I called "outer body experiences" at work, I had put in so much time and effort to learn the subject matter that I knew there wouldn't be a questions I couldn't answer or a concept I wouldn't be able to explain clearly. My preparation gave me great confidence, when we know we've done everything we could to get ready we can find our zone very quickly. When we are mentally clear, we can be in front of 30,000 people and it wouldn't matter, because at that point we're just sharing our knowledge openly and honestly. Myndbeatz uses music and spoken word to help athletes, young adults, coaches and parents prepare for practices, games, work and life at home. When we're prepared we are mentally clear.

People who don't do deep mental work often find mental clarity, on accident, in hardship. When they lose a loved one, or find themselves in an emergency situation, or when they work really hard on the house or challenge themselves physically. In those unexpected scenarios their mind goes into fight or flight mode and they are capable of doing amazing things and handling immense pressure with ease. It's only after the event has passed that they realize how quickly and efficiently their mind was working. People who desire to develop and who who desire personal development and deep mental work pursue hardship as a way to achieve clarity. Why do you think high performing entrepreneurs, creators business people, athletes and fitness personalities are doing cold tubs, saunas and ultra-marathons? They are so addicted (in a healthy way) to the feeling of mental clarity that they'll choose really hard stuff to continue to find it.

When we are mentally clear, we are able to perform, ideate, envision and react in ways that make our lives and the lives of people around us better. When was the last time you felt in the zone or in a state of flow? We want to help you get there more easily and more often.

Free and clear.

When we're mentally clear, we are always ready.
